Saw these at a local train show and just had to have a pair for my excersion train. Fairly typical for a newer Bachmann car. Nicely detailed. It's a bit on the light side and has one other problem. The couplers are way higher than standard and barely couple to anything. I have remedied this with Micro-Trains pocket couplers.
Ah, the Jackson Sharps. I believe those were early Fall of Last Year. I have one in HO that's on its way to being a Trolley.
Though an interesting and unique form of passenger car... I believe they were received by the N scale community with a resounding YAWN. I guess with so many other more traditional rolling stock and locomotives yet to be made... this was not tops on too many folks wish list.
Warren, Don't feel too isolated. I haven' t ever seen these either, and I think they are beyond cool. I am starting my search because these would go behind any steamer and a couple of Harrimans for one very believable excursion. Heck, you could even bend up some Preiser people and put them inside. Hmmmmm, wouldn't it be a hoot to have a rail excursion to a local nudist colony!!!! LOL Ken "FloridaBoy" Willaman
A little over a year ago now. As usual I decided to build a couple and dang if they didn't make them. Been to two shows since and haven't seen them again. Mine were made from the chassis of two Roundhouse/MDC 34 ft. old timer cars that I had laying around after a couple of kit bashes.
I've put MTL Nn3 trucks under a pair and run them behind a Marklin 2-6-0 in DRGW 'bumble bee' colors. I'm thinking of building an amusement park with a loop of track to run them on.
These are almost deadon for most amusement/theme park excursion cars. I've thought about picking up a few just for kicks. They're really nice looking.
Just so happens that they fit into the Strasburg set I got a couple months ago. Not exactly the saem color but close enough for me.
Excursion cars These sure would look nice on that layout being (re)built by the local railroad museum in Mentor at the old Towmotor plant. Those of you that live in or near the area ought to stop by and take a look. The museum has a website: Western Reserve Model Railroad Museum. Having spent much of my childhood in the area, I miss the old New York Central double-track main line and the Nickle Plate Road, as well as the B&O hauling coal (with steam power!) up to Fairport Harbor to load on the lakers. :tb-smile: Best regards, Don
