    Hello,

I am back again after being gone for a while. I do not have enough space to move around at my current layout. I have to squeeze my self to get to the other end of the table. So what I am going to do is to tear it up and start a new one as a shelf style.

Please review the attachment. In just one area I am restricted to just 29" because of a wall. Where I put 29" and a "?" that means I can go more than 29".

I am going to use Unitracks and I might use Atlas flex just in case that I have to.

Now, what do you think about this new one and what should be the width so my hand can reach the edge? Do I have enough space to have curves with no problems? I need your help in finding a good layout for this too.

    Thank you so much.

For a shelf layout, 29" should be more than what you need for width except for maybe that much at the ends. I'd actually recommend no more than 18-24" wide on the shelves except for the turnback loops on the end, where 29" would be plenty. If you draw up a plan of the layout with some track and buildings I can help you further. Have you also considered building it in sections? That way you can remove a short stretch of layout to work on it.

    Thanks

First thank you so much for taking time and sharing your thoughts. I deeply appreciate that.
To be honest with you I am not in the hobby that much. I have read a lot about it, and the more I read the more confused I get.

I do have now 2 tables and setting next to each other as an "L" shape, but as I stated I do not have enough space to move around. so I am thinking to go the shelf style which takes less space and I do not have to squeeze myself to get to the end.

what I like in my layout is to have as mush trains run at the same time. I just like to see trains running.

Thank you for mentioning the sections which I do not have any idea about it. So please enlighten me on that.

Again thank you so much for your help.

Your reach will be effected by the height of the layout. Twenty nine inches will require leaning across the front edge. So you'll be rubbing over that scenery and track with clothing, etc. Distance to your back corners will be even more of a stretch, so consider access pop-ups.
