All, Does anyone know if NP applied the anti-skid material on top of the short hoods of 6-axle units? It's pretty obvious on F units, but I have never seen the top of the nose of SD45's, U33's, U25C's, etc. This isn't the entire surface, just the walkway it seems. Thanks, Peter
I'm trying to think of any photos I have seen, which would answer your question. Seems as though most angles are from the ground looking upward. Hey Peter- Are there any photos on the club web site which show the T-Trak modules? Drop me an email? Boxcab E50
The book "Northern Pacific Diesel Era" has a few down on photos of big 6 axle power, and I could not see any anti-skid material on the short hood.
Thanks for checking guys. I found this photo of an ex-NP U33C 3304 on Railpictures. Take a look at the nose - you can see the the grip tape. I'm curious if BN applied it, or if it originally had it as NP. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=314469&nseq=6 Thanks, Peter
Good question. Photo is dated 3&1/2 years after the merger. By then, had BN taken delivery of new units? Yes. Could that have been added to standardize? Possibly. Argh. Boxcab E50
