Added some scenery today, 5 trees, dirt, ground cover and the crossbucks. I will add the crossing after it all has dried.

Show us what you've done this year :tb-biggrin:

The only model railroad-related progress I have made is continued discussions with my wife to have a 10' x 4' closet to build a switching layout in.... still getting nowhere with that.

I re-motored an athearn/bowser FM H-16-44. Its a diecast shell on an old athearn drive train, the motor was showing signs of age so I replaced it with a new motor out of an RTR model.

also installed metal wheels on some new cars.

This evening I'm recycling old copper automotive wire, shaping them into tree trunks and limbs. Borrowing the idea from a Trainboad member, Mikelh i think it was.. great idea to use existing materials.

Went to the hobby shop for a 100 dollar shopping spree with a Visa Giftcard on New Year's Eve. Bought some trees, rolling stock, and a pack of Pikestuff Highway Guard Rails. I assembled the guard rails and trees while watching New Year's Twilight Zone Marathon, (which I'm still watching right now..)

Give us a chance, man! As I type this on Sunday morning 2 January 2011, most folk are still trying to sober up from the New Year's Eve parties on Friday night. Actually, I did some yesterday, starting wiring on my OO/HO tramway.

    Regards,

    Pete Davies

I suppose I did. I had an ops session first thing (0900) Saturday. One of my engines was derailing regularly at one single spot (a turnout). Bad track, wheels out of gauge, piece of ballast in the points...must be something. The engine was an Atlas C636 and one of the trucks was installed backwards! Must have happened at my last maintenance session. So I changed the truck (bogie) and problem solved! Was that modeling? I did enjoy it.

I suppose I now need to initiate paper work to correct or retrain the maintenance section responsible for this installation error. The paperwork never ends!

I worked on building an Eastern Car Works Enterprise NYC Covered Hopper. Also started on a P&LE rebuilt 50' Boxcar Lot 981-B using a Front Range 50' Boxcar and adding a 10' Door, Side Reinforcements, Cut Down Ladders and other parts. Also started on another P&LE Boxcar using an Athearn 50' Ribbed Side Boxcar as a stand-in Model.

Continued on adding detail parts to my Atlas Hi-Hood GP40 as a late model N&W model.

Slowly but surely I am making measured progress in getting my attic finished. I have to build down all the rafters to meet the new code insulation depth. (Yes, I had the building official review it because I want to permit the build-out).

I have already built out most of the rafters but the ceiling is 14ft high at the attic peak. I have a carpenter/contractor coming this weekend that is going to scaffold up and finish scabbing on the rafters where it is just too dangerous (and stupid) for me to try and reach by a regular ladder.

All of this to get my train room going. Next step will be me building all of the "knee walls" and framing a wall around what will be the HVAC room up there.

Maybe by Monday, I can post some progress pictures. This is going to be a costly venture so I am trying to do as much of the work myself as I can. Fortunately, I work in a commercial construction related field and am comfortable doing everything but hanging sheetrock. I don't do sheetrock. Don't like it nor have the patience for it.

Carpenters were here Friday and Saturday. The first task is "beefing" up my ceiling rafters to make them deeper for insulation. Plus, I have some "humon-gous" ridge rafters that had to be extended down to match the built-up rafters. This is all done. NEXT step is framing "knee-walls", rough-in electrical, and then insulation.

"We're getting there". It has been hard not having trains to run. Kinda stinks not having a layout, but I'm getting there .... slowly but surely.

Most time I've more than one project in the fire.
Now I'm busy with my 90 deg corner module with tunnel. One of the two segments is ready for first pictures.

The other project is a stock yard for my narrow gauge module Salina. Also at the end. I have to make the fence and attach all together with Woodland.
