I've been having a tough time finding a specific type of single unit 48 foot intermodal car in HO scale. I believe it is a Thrall, but as far as I can tell, there are two different styles of wells attributed to Thrall. I don't know which is which, if they're from different eras or one kind has been misattributed.

Anyway, to be specific, here are photos of such cars:
    FEC 4432
    DTTX 720134

The closest I can find are some multi-unit sets that use that well style, but I would like to avoid hacking up a 5 unit set just to make just one or two units.

Walthers used to sell the single units as a "Stand Alone 48' Thrall Well Car" or something close to that - but they are not in production at the moment - watch for them at ebay or local swap meets.

When you find one, order plano metal stanchions as the plastic ones included break really easily :)

OK, thanks, at least I know where to start.

If they made them, it must have been a while, Walther's site only mentions the Gunderson cars that's anything close in a 48' single unit, but clearly the wrong type, and most of those are out of stock too.

I'd guess it was the early 1990's when those were made. I've had the similar 5 car articulated sets built from kits since about 1992 or 3. Keep an eye on Ebay and swap meets.
