A little Santa Fe action for a change just to prove I really do model it sometimes. The first car is a wood 70 foot baggage & express car built by AC&F in 1907. The fishbelly underframe was made of steel as was the plating added to the sides sometime before WWII. These are always easy to pick out in old photos of ATSF passenger trains.
Very nice, Russell! See p.40, N-Scale MAR/APR 1999 if you have any interest in inexpensive diaphragms for heavy-weights. Scott
NW2 pulling some 20T coal cars through the gorge. All the steam is in the shop, so the line had to time-warpily pre-emptively reactivate some diesel A closer view of the cars: The 20T coal cars are RLW Nn3 kits, but work for N after reaming out the truck pin holes a little. I added the NutBoltWasher details, handgrabs & the coal loads (and some lead weights inside): everything else comes in the kit. Each pair of cars is a groovy two-day project!
Track Repair Crew I had to repair and replace a bunch of track, so I figured I would make a scene out it.
Quiet forest Until #506 came charging through. Any critters that were settling down for winter hibernation are wide awake now...
Finally got around to uploading some of the last pics of my current layout, now largely finished. I have since added more water and some 'foam' curling around rocks to the creek bed.
"The Golden Country" Taken at Citrus Heights on the Pacific Desert Lines layout. Edit: Made a few changes (used vignette shadows to draw the attention to the center, blurred the tops of the buildings with light, and marked my territory in the lower left)
Honestly,..... It looks fantastic! It's the sharing that makes the difference and what you have done to frame and isolate the shot from the original location shot is truly incredible. That is a part of the layout that most people that can't have access behind the scenes; never get to see. Again, fantastic shot and very creative. Brian
