Welcome Spring!!! Although it has been pretty cold and wet, we finally have been able to get some running time and work done on the layout. Early to Mid April, my wife and I were able to rework the ballast and do some other repairs that the long winter wreaked on the garden. It is really amazing both how well the rail road weathers the winters here in the midwest, but there is always something that needs attention.

Finally, the week before Easter I was able to get all the repairs done, and Easter Sunday proved to be a great afternoon, both for an egg hunt, as well as running trains for the Grand daughter and nieces and nephews. We all had a great time. I was able to get one of my Christmas presents out for the first time......a Bachman Circus Train! It never ceases to amaze me how well these Bachman locos run.....once u get them off the cheap hollow steal track that comes with the sets. Put them on some decent brass.....and they are nice smooth runners!!

This afternoon also proved to be a good day, as I was able to run the other present, an Aristo Rogers 2-4-2. It does well.....but I think I will change out the rubber tire drivers for another set of metal drivers. I will never be pulling a lot with it.....so I think that will be a decent change.

Also......one of the pics shows what happens when one forgets where one planted tulips!!!! Thats right, I added some roadway last year, well after the tulips were down, and this spring I have a little tulip valley for the track.........should be really pretty when they bloom!

Hope you all enjoy the pics. I will put another post on with the rest from today.

    Regards,

    Darryl and Joan

Wow. Looks positively like spring in your neighborhood! Not yet, here. Soon, perhaps. Neat looking operation. Enjoy!

    That looks wonderful :)

It's funny, Spring in IL, not quite Spring in MT, and we're well into a sweltering summer down here in FL. Not the place to build a garden layout this state :p

But yours dmiller looks lovely :) Has me daydreaming of springs from time ago. Thanks for posting the pictures!
