No I am not preaching the gospel. But it is the Gospel according to the Rock Island. Let's see some Rock Island power or stock. Here are a couple--
West Liberty? Hwy 6 East of Iowa City? I'll have to root around for some of the NE Iowa depot photos I took some 35 years ago.
All that's left of the Rock Island/KCS crossing at Howe, OK. Looking east on the abandoned Howe-Boonville section of the former Choctaw Route.
Hemi that bay window you have it as in 2005, I saw that same caboose in 08when I was working out there or couldit be a different one! If so send an extra my way lol.
Fireball, It very well could have been. Steve Lee and the Steam crew in Cheyenne collect this sort of stuff, and some of it resells. Others pass thru. I think the CRIP caboose was a mere passer-by. Loads of stuff passes thru Cheyenne. It's amazing how many oddball things roll thru past the Depot.
Sad to see that forlorn old crossing. I have not seen any former RI equipment rolling through my region in ages. Boxcab E50
Awesome Hemi. Yeah I would see all kinds of weird stuff when I was there. Never had a chance to walk over to the "roundhouse" in Cheyenne but passed over the 3985 one day as it was heading out. That was cool. I get to see TONS of Rock stuff. But then again its all painted over with EJ&E marks now. Have had a few covered hoppers recently and found a Route Rock trailer in Cicero just north of Hawthorne yd.
