I recently started working on some weathering projects that have stacked up over the past year or so. I'm trying some new techniques and hope to find some best practices that work consistently for me.

Here are 3 boxcars that I recently finished: I added some extra notes on my blog in case you are interested in more detail and more photos: nscaleaddiction.blogspot.com

Nice work. I have a couple of Guilford box cars with the silver roof that I need to weather for sure. Thanks for the additional details on your blog

Very cool! I especially dig the CN car. Are you doing your own graffiti with an airbrush? If so, any pointers/tips? I am think of giving it a shot.

Great job! I especially like the CN box, the added layer of safety stripes added over older graffiti is very effective, great work in my humble opinion!

I agree with the other guys. The CN car turned out great. I really like the way the roof was done.

    Excellent work!!

Even though I don't care for graffiti those are very well done. Like the others I especially like the roofs.

    jglossip,

the graffiti is applied with decals from both Microscale and Blair Line. They have several different sets available. I am surprised how well they hug the ribs of the boxcar. I used Micro Sol which works well for this type of application. If no weathering is applied over them, a light coat of flat clear (I use Model Master flat clear) will hide any signs of the edge of the decal film.
