I must say the Tony Thompson approach to Waybills push me to think about the standard CC&WB in a different perspective. And when I start a discussion with a member of JMRI Yahoo group the idea takes shape:

Why don't integrate both documents key informations in a single card: a "Waycard" ?

So, we developed a new application using the CSV File output from JMRI Operations has been uploaded to Files/Operations in the JMRI User Group:
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jmriusers/files/Operations/WayCard%20Creator%20Ver\
    s.1.0.0/

The necessary files have been put in a subdirectory labeled "WayCard CreatorVers1.0.0" on the Yahoo group
This application is called WayCard Creator and has been developed by Dan Foltz and Enzo Fortuna.
This is an Excel based application like the other Creator applications that have previously been created and placed in the Files/Operations folder for your use.

This new application uses the Car Card / Way Bill approach to operations.
However, it has several advantages over the traditional system of Car Cards and Way Bills.

For one, it replaces both the Car Card and the Way Bill and creates a single card that contains all the necessary information. But also report additional info as : Consignee and Shipper name, Route used, Special instructions field, Hazardous cars, Optional car picture or RR logo. In addition to normal cars cards, also Motive Power and Caboose / Fred cards are generated.....
Well, see the Samples and Help to know more!

There are several files and a few options for the installation of this application.
The "best" place to start is to download an review the two files in "PDF-TO-Evaluate.Zip".
The file named "train (SAMPLE CSV)Page(xls).pdf" shows an example of 9 WayCards of various types that can be generated.
You can view a sample of the cards generated by the tool here: http://tinyurl.com/3fdu3qp

I suggest to download the Help file that contain all the info and details from the JMRI group.

The File named "WCC-HelpVer1.0.0.pdf" is the Master Help File.
It provides instructions on installation options and using the application and then goes into an explanation of what and how to set things up within JMRI so that you can create WayCards on your own.
Please take a moment to review these files.

If you are using the Operations portion of JMRI and even if you do not end up using the Application it would be appreciated if you were to review some of the files and perhaps comment back.
You do NOT need anything but a PDF Reader to review these two files.

If you would be interested in the application concept but are unable to use it because it is developed in Excel, fear not, as plans are on the drawing board to re-create this application in a language that is more universally usable.

Feedback on your level of interest would help spur this project on.
However, this will probably be some time in coming as Dan and Enzo need to "take a break" from development and "run" some trains. :)

Additionally, also if you don't plan to use this utility, in the mentioned folder are some parts that can be useful to somebody:
    - WCCCars.zip is a collection of part of my N scale Freight roster pictures
    - WCCLogo is a collection of Railroads Companies logo.
You are free to use it on your paper, if you like it.

    Have fun, friends!
Cheers and Thank you for any comment,
    Dan Foltz
    Enzo Fortuna

    Hoi,

Looks nice, but I stay with separate carcards and waybills. The reason for me is that I participate regularly with my cars to Fremo-meetings. Each time the layout is different, characteristic of modulair railroading, and this makes it very inconvenient to combine carcards and waybills.

Now I can use a car we need to get the load transported. One session this may be a car of mine, but during the next session this could be a different car. Regarding the waybills I have laminated my waybills for the industries my modules. The routing depends on the layout and isn't put on the waybill. This information stands on the traincard.

So keeping them separated is the most flexible solution for me.

    Greetings,

    Gino Damen
