The non-Maerklin switches convinced me it is N. A real blast from the past, this is, like digging up a 30-year old Walthers catalog.
Aside from all of the other evidence already discussed, the dead giveaway for me is the church. You can see it in a few photos, including the nice overhead shot a few posts back. I have that same church sitting on my layout; my wife built it from a Model Power (I think?) kit about 15-20 years ago when she was kindly pretending to have an interest in my hobby. Anyway, the rest of the layout, especially the track, would have to be much more proportionally smaller than it is in relation to the church. I vote N-scale. Jamie
Ok, after looking at another of his offerings, here is more to think about http://www.ebay.com/itm/Z-Scale-Din..._RR_Trains&hash=item56460c77bb#ht_3503wt_1185 if you read the text he describes the doors as exactly as tall as a penny. As we all know, doors are many times oversized on most older offerings. But that kinda looks like a Bmann Vette
I vote N scale. Thats N scale track for sure. Arnold with a mix of maby Minitrix. Many who have just started a layout could have used Z scale models on an N scale layout.
It's too simple. Someone needs to contact them and have them measure the rail gauge with a regular ruler and get back to ya ;-) .
That is interesting. Why would someone NOT want to be 100% sure that what he was selling was what he was advertising. When I was 'ebaying' I was corrected more then a few times on some items...and actually thanked the person who brought it to my attention. If that guys advertises it as Z...and its N...he is gonna have to refund the $$$$ and most likely get bad feedback. Then he will relist it as N and everyone can have a good laugh. I just dont get people sometimes...LOL. .
I noticed it is now listed under N scale as well and no mention of Z scale in the desciption any more as far as I can see Fred
Maybe he finally listened. Now he doesn't specify any scale, but he edited the aforementioned diner listing to "N" scale. Which is good, as it's a Bachmann 45709.
And...he did put a tape measure to the track...;-) But...the 70cmX69cmX18cm layout measurement still has me confused...hmmmmm
I've exchanged several emails with the seller, and they agreed to change the diner to N scale. The layout was a harder sell, but at least they removed the references to Z scale. I recommended measuring the track and advised them of the rail spacing for N (9mm) and Z (6.5mm). I also advised that the overall dimensions of the layout were wrong, but I think English may be their second language, so it's been a challenge communicating. I'm not even sure if I'm speaking with a man or woman...
Looking through the pictures, did you see this thing? http://i.ebayimg.com/t/N-Scale-One-Kind-German-Town-Train-Layout-controls-lights-up-/00/s/NzY4WDEwMjQ=/$(KGrHqUOKo4E5ZiZmkDwBOdiBpR8kQ~~60_59.JPG It looks like one of those Readers Digest "models" from a while back, but someone has converted it to a track cleaner or something.
I WIN I WIN I WIN! ONE OF THE AUCTION PICS HAS A TAPE MEASURE ACROSS THE TRACKS- BETWEEN THE RAILHEADS? CLEARLY VISIBLE 9MM! I WIN! LOL
