I shot a very short video of the Marias Pass tonight and threw it up on my blog for anyone that is interested in taking a look: http://nscaleaddiction.blogspot.com/2011/10/marias-pass-in-action.html HuskerN
I think it is amazing how well you captured the look of Marias Pass, I showed the article in NSR to a co-worker who is from Montana and before he read a single word, he said "this looks just like Marias Pass!" Well done!
Nice video! You did a great job on weathering and scenery. It almost seemed real! Look foward to seeing other videos from you.
Having spent some of my younger years up there when the NP, GN, CB&Q, and Santa Fe were all separate identities with first gen diesel and some steam, you bring back some memories with that excellent terrain modeling. Nice job.
Very nice layout! I love the fully weathered train too. Now how about a version in high-def, perhaps with dubbed sound: dynamic brake whine (muffled through the tunnel) and flange squeal? -Gary
Very nice layout - as always! You continue to inspire us all in showing that a small layout is so often a great way to go. You make me question why I went bigger. Actually, don't tell anybody - but I have a smaller layout. I too, find that building small layouts like these are a great way to sample modeling in many scenic locations. I think that trying to at least capture "the look" of a location is a great way to model and, in many ways, very liberating. It is a true thrill to watch as our creations are constructed and begin to resemble the real thing. I've realized that it is not necessary to model a location with exact detail. Simply going for "the feel" of a place often is very rewarding. You reminded my family of our summer trip this year. Well done sir!
