As my operating crew was moaning and groaning about running undecorated passenger trains I finally started to paint a number of passenger cars in the NP pre-Loewy two-tone green, also referred to as the "Pinetree" or "Butterknife" scheme.

I model 1949, so I need a NCL, an Alaskan, the 401/402 and 407/408 Coast Pool Trains and a few locals. This is what I am aiming for (although in 1949 the NP already used ABA F-units, not ABB)

I started painting a couple of cars for the NCL: Most are stand-in or close enough, a mixture of Kato, Rapido and Brass Car Sides. But then I ran into a snag: Microscale has discontinued the two sets that I need

    60-786
    60-787

Does anybody have these sets and would be willing to sell?
Keith Lyons and Kim Saigan worked together to get one set to me (many thanks again, guys!!), but I think I need at least four of each to complete my projects.

Any help to finish these cars will be highy appreciated :tb-biggrin:

If they're disco'd, how hard would it be for someone (decal printer) to reproduce them? I'd be in for 10+ sets (should satiate my long term needs)...... I have three ABA sets of those IM locos and I'd bet you're in the same boat. I need at least 30 cars........

And FWIW I do have one untouched set left, were there any interest or ability to have them duplicated? It's been on my mind.... this was (below) the start of my project but I have decided to have my painter take a crack at this, using only MT Heavyweight cars for batch #1. Batch #2 will be all Rapido and Centralia smoothside cars..... including that spiffy new Western Diner car. This is a hand-painted vintage Atlas (or R'Rossi?) car- I have nowhere to airbrush :(

Getting there. You should check out (if willing to get slicey and dicey lengthwise!) Microscale's HO yellow stripes. The thin ones (the stripe set has both 2" and 1" HO scale) are just right for our N stripes (except the top one, which should 1/2 as tall right?).... but it's coming right along with those HO stripes-

Gonna "foobie" a set with some diesel lettering just to limp along til IM gets their head outta the sand and gets these on the press.

(Always on the lookout for N scale Northern Pacific stuff....)

I have several passenger cars that were a project of a friend who passed away a couple of years ago.
He had painted them in the 2 tone Northern Pacific greens but never got to finish them.
I have not found all the parts for them yet as they are in a large box with many other items.
If any of you N.P. fans are interested let me know.
