Due to input we have received from members, we are going to steer the questioning in a different direction this time. Would you rather have a prototypical car, or a car that said TrainBoard? Simple question, simple answers. Charlie
I have not chimed in on any of the other questions, however I would prefer a prototypical scheme. Any era and any type car would be fine with me since I collect as well as run. Though it may be a bit more expensive, I also prefer a car that has an interesting and colorful paint scheme. Those tend to be better sellers amongst the collectors.
Ummm, I don't get it. Do I want a prototypical car, or one that has Trainboard lettering? Is that the question? Well I like prototypical cars, most of mine are, but then what's the point of TB putting one out? If what I really want is a prototypical car, maybe I should just buy one of the comercially available ones. If I buy a TB car because I want to support TB, isnt that by definition not prototypical? Confused in Cucamonga....
I'ld like a car with TrainBoard on it. Prototypical would be a bonus. I aint hard to please :tb-cool:
Seems like a billboard reefer, a "TB" tank car, or any rolling stock with "Trainboard" graffiti'ed across the sides would cover the first two answers. Make it "TB Poultry" or graffiti across a stock car carrying chickens and you'd take care of all three answers. (Or would that be too fowl?)
Something that says "Trainboard" on it would get my vote. I like the idea of a tank car with graffiti but would be fine with a variety of cars, including a business car doing track inspections.
A car with Trainboard on it. That would be my point of interest; I missed the last that came out and have always wanted one.
Trainboard. I doubt i would buy a prototype car. But i WOULD like to advertise trainboard at layout meets and in an article.
I'd probably buy three if they said Trainboard. Otherwise, no thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'll buy anything and probably 3 of them. Just thinking: * A "generic" 40' flat car - which could squeak by in most eras from 1940s on even if left on a siding * A load with Trainboard on the side - could be large crates / sign / something * The load could be swapped out for a new one released by Trainboard once a year.
I would vote for a prototypical-looking TrainBoard scheme. For me, it's got to be appropriate for transition era.
I'm for a Trainboard car. Prototype cars are everywhere, and to me nothing would be a better thank-you for supporting the board than a car with the board's name and heraldry on it. With that said, I do agree a nice common ground would be a prototype car with some sort of Trainboard graphitti on it. Imagine an 89' TTX enclosed trilevel autorack with a giant Trainboard on the side panels. Either way, the Trainboard name/logos should be large enough to be read without magnification.
Prototype car special runs sell better. That's based on personal experience, discussions with other producers and tracking sales of fantasy scheme cars. If you are trying to fund TB on a long term basis we'll be happy to pass on the info we have learned.
I would prefer some prototypical car. And I also like Steve's (Grey one) idea doing a load. Another idea would be to try a Trainboard graffiti decal sheet that could be used in different eras. What comes to my mind are the „Kansas City Lou“ graffiti cars that Deluxe did once. The positive side effect of the decal would be low shipping costs also abroad. That's what come to my mind right now. More strange ideas might follow...
I would want a car with Train Board lettering. I can buy any commercially made car and road. An SP boxcar is still an SP boxcar even it is a limited edition model. But a car with a fictional road name or Train Board lettering would be different.
I think you should get a bunch of spray cans and create a prototype, I agree , it would look great on the side of an auto rack. I volunteer to watch for the cops while you paint... Randy
