I've got about 14 MT CB&Q MOW tank cars as a start and I was able to pick up a bunch of black BLW data only tank cars a while back. Now all I have to do is get more cars and build the diorama . . . so I wouldn't hold my breath. :)

That is easier said than done. While there seem to have been several actual models of Roma wine cars made in several other scales, I have been unable to find decals. Protocraft makes decals for Gibson and another 6-dome wine tank in 1/48, but in the past they have been unwilling to print decals in any other scale in quantities less than 125. They have some neat images of the cars and decals on their website. Anybody have any other ideas?

I agree totally. When I had more money I even considered getting minimum special runs of the MTL 10K (300 of one number or 150 each of multiple numbers - at least at that time) in different numbers or no numbers of UTLX and getting decals of white UTLX numbers made, keeping a dozen or so for myself and selling the rest on ebay. It would have taken about a $4K+ intitial investment each time, but I was sure that i could get most of that back in the selloff.

I have less money now. It is still a dream I have.

I could sure use a bunch of 13,600 gallon NACC acid tanks, like Athearn did in HO.

I, too, have entertained similar thoughts about getting some done. But the money thing.....

Athearn really needs to bring the acid tank cars to N scale. That's one type of tank car that's much needed.

Maybe just a simple silver (or black) car with GATX,SHPX, or ULTX marks then ? That would be the fast way to get one of these cars in service on my layout and still be very distinctive !

In the past I have kitbashed one or two of these cars and then made decals by reducing HO scale Champ decals for Roma Wine by scanning them and printing them with a color laser printer (ink jet just washes off when you put the decals in the water). I'll see if I can find the cars and take a picture or two.
