From the MTL Facebook Page. I thought I would pass this on personally to the forum. Keith's presence here at MTL has been missed since his retirement and the few opportunities we had to engage with him during his visits to the plant leave us with fond and sometimes eventful memories. As we move forward we benifit as a company and as a hobby from his love for the craft and his dedication to his employees. Godspeed. The offical Release reads: "We are saddened to confirm that our Founder Keith Edwards, 91, passed away peacefully this morning, July 26, 2012, at our local hospital of natural causes. Keith was Co-Founder of the original Kadee Quality Products Co, along with his twin brother. In 1990 he incorporated the Micro-Trains Line division to focus his time, interest and resources on N and Z scale model trains. He retired in 2000, and enjoyed a comfortable retirement with family and close friends. Keith inspired all of us at Micro-Trains, with his selfless passion for the hobby and business. Micro-Trains employees, and his family will miss him so very much." Joe MTL
Sad to hear for sure. Who knows where Z would be today without MT's prresense in the American market. Having never met him, I can only say thanks for his part in our hobby. All the best.
Thank you Joe for sharing this, Micro Trains has has always be a great inspiration for me not only as a modeler but as a small business owner. Those of us bitten buy the Z bug have much to be thankful for thanks to this one person's genius. Tim Miller The Zelatory
Thank you for sharing this with us Joe; and so sorry to hear this sad news. My condolences to his Family. I'm sure you all will continue the fine tradition in honor of Mr. Edwards. R.I.P.
Sad news indeed. Although I never met him, I was always a fan of his products! When I lost all my trains in the mid 90's, and had to start all over, I started with The Cadillac of N Scale.
Very sad to hear, I will run my trains at half speed today as a mark of respect RIP our dear friend...
May his spirit be welcomed back into the vastness of the universe from whence it came with open and loving arms.
Thank you Joe for sharing. Sad news. All my thoughts go to his family.... And thanks to him, as well as to guys such as Nelson Gray, for what they allowed Z scale to become. Dom
