    Hello TB Members

I have 3 Kato SD70M and SD70MAC that I would like to know how to remove the trucks and do a good cleaning. I went to the KATO site and went to the maintenance page and they did not show how to remove the trucks on the exploded view or I did not notice it. If you could provide some pictures that would be nice. Unless it is simple to explain.

Also if you use tweezers. Where can I found some that do not have the grooves on the tips.

How often should I oil the trucks. I have LaBelle 104. I do not run my loco's often, maybe 20 mins in a 30 day period.

    Thanks
    Don

Hi, Removing a truck is quite simple. First remove the shell. Then loosen the screw on each end of the frame a couple turns but not enough to fully remove them. Then pry the two frame halves apart slightly while pulling straight down on the truck and it should pop out. Hope this helps!

drgw12. The loco's are dcc equipped. Would I need to remove the DCC chips before what you stated to do.

you will, the light or DCC board will need to be removed. Not sure if you can spread the frame halves enough with the board still in.
