#12, the Eastbound Kootenay Passenger Train... Crossing the Kettle River and starting the climb to Farron Downgrade at Shields about 10 miles from Castlegar have a great weekend! md
Only up the hill. I just left the helper (pusher in CP's terms whether it was on front or back) with the train for the second photo rather than cutting it off at the summit. On the prototype's 2.2% grade to the top of Farron, passenger trains had helpers upfront and freights had them on both front and back. On the prototype pushers were stopped as soon as diesels came in but we run diesel pusher sets in both directions because we have reinstated ore traffic to the huge smelter in Trail. This traffic is down hill all the way save for the climb to Farron so it sort of makes sense...and is a whole bunch of fun to run. thx for asking! md
On a chilly spring morning, a Boston & Main 50' boxcar stands out among the drab greys and browns of the other cars in the East Yard at Ravenswood, WV. One of these are not like the others.... a N&W hopper is sandwiched by a pair of Clinchfield 70-ton hoppers. I finished (for the most part) my backdrop Thursday night, I am thrilled with the results and the atmosphere it creates. Looking forward to background buildings and trees in the future.
Here is a consist of SD45's pulling a mixed freight through a tunnel on the Inland Pacific Railroad. This module was built by David, Jenn, Bob, and Jeff of the N-land Pacific freemoN club. This shot was taken with a razor phone last weekend during our open house in Upland Ca. Sorry it is the only photo. I rarely stepped away from running trains and had a good time. [/IMG]
Great work guys! Being at work this week-end... I did some modeling earlier this week. I went from this : to this : Still a lot to do. I'll soon begin to add colours and a trees and houses and road andd and and.... Hard (new) work ahead !
Finally stuffed this auto rack. Maybe someday I'll get around to lowering the car and super detailing it but for now it's good to go. And so it wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg, I made a RTV mold and cast the cars for the lower levels of the rack. The top level has the nicely detailed originals. While it was cheaper, it does take a lot of time to paint the autos. Left to right: Original CMW 1967 Ford; my painted resin copy; unpainted resin copy fresh out of the mold.
Your backdrop looks really good! I am experimenting with some photo backdrops on one part of my layout, but the backdrop grabs the attention and focus. I'm thinking something more like you have would better set atmosphere. The photo backdrop I have just looks too real!
At the last Boeing swap meet I picked up these 4 CB&Q Reefers with KD's & metal wheels for $12 ($3 each). So today I did some quick weathering with India ink & chalk. (I now see after I took the photos that a couple of the cars are off the track!)
Purchase from the trainshow... Bought this DAVIES Steel gone at the train show...I know Mr. Freytag passed back in 2010.
Nice shot. Did you use multiple images and that special software (Helicon I think it is) to get everything in focus?
