I wanted to make an on-board train video. I found a "cam car" online but it was too expensive. I made one for about $17.00 us. The video quality is not as good as I was hoping for. Maybe it's the camera, lighting, TF card or some combination. Anyway, if interested, I am attaching image and video on how I made the camera car. Thanks.. I've seen similar cars on-line selling for about $100.00. Just wanted to demonstrate how you can build your own for a lot less. Hope this helps someone. Aj
I think that is a great method to make an inexpensive camera car!!! I have read, that you can get a better view of the track by mounting a camera that is connected to the truck so it will rotate with the curves and get a truer track view throughout the layout. Is your camera powered by a battery... or is it getting power from the track?
Excellent prior I had no idea how to make one and thought them to be quite expensive. But now I'm going to have to look around for one of those SPy Pens. Thanks much for sharing your skills
There are better camera set-ups that probably cost more but I have less than 2 miles of track. Couldn't see putting a lot into it. Battery is built-in (soldered) recharges by usb. When battery dies either replace (with much ado) or just buy a new pen camera. I like idea of truck mounted-swivel camera. That would be cool. I did considered it, but was unsure if weight of camera would prevent proper turning of truck on track... thinking.... Regards, Aj
