I purchased some n-scale autos made in China off eBay. The majority of them have some form of defect. With a little effort I was able to salvage most of them. Would be nice to be able to buy nicer cars but these with have to do for now. BTY I have not had a chance to paint on the head & tail lights yet.
Here is a video of my adventure.

Nice job. Things like that I just consider kits that I have to build. I enjoy doing it. That's why we call it modeling.

What ? no smog ? no pedestrians to chase down ? no dogs peeing on car tires ? No pidgeon splats ? BTW , body shop did a nice job on those cars!!!

Thanks Paperkite. It has always bothered me about modeled scenes... no trash. Would seem that to really capture the truth there should be litter and such. You can't hardly go anywhere without see the crap everyone else leaves about. Oh well... we modelers must desire a pristine world. Happydays, Aj

Looks like the end result was more than well worth the effort. Good job.

these cars indeed need quite a bit of work. but then , you can get 600 for less than $150

Nice work there. But...prototype cars aren't exactly perfectly undamaged. They have dents, scratches, even broken windows! I would have picked a couple to be in a car accident scene! You seem to have enough motor vehicle traffic represented on your layout that a fender-bender or two is inevitable!

Great tip(s). I've got 100 of these things and was happy with the price, not so happy with the details. You get what you pay for I guess. Or, if you have a creative bent such as you AJ, maybe one gets a fun project in addtion to a good deal.
