Here was the state of things last time: Since then I've finished around the new signal, including blending it into the snow bank, and redoing the equipment box: I planted some more trees on the front of the module: And then after running out of trees (again!) and making another batch, I have completed adding trees to both sides of the module: Now it is just finishing, wiring up, etc left to do. I'm designing a signal controller that interfaces with JMRI (thanks to an open source project of mine, https://github.com/madleech/ArduinoCMRI) and will get the PCB etched over xmas.
And here is a quick focus-stacked shot from my Real Camera: The train is a Japanese airport express train, I think its icy white color scheme suits the snow pretty nicely. Of course the real thing spends it's time on the Tokyo-Narita line which doesn't feature a whole lot of snowy confier forests, but hey
You need to double the length of your switch heater ducts. Theyre roughly 40ft long in real life. Adam Draskovich Signal Foreman BNSF Railway
Wow!!! Lots of work, but the effect is just plain wow!!! And iy seems like it should be easy to keep clean and 'white.' Inspiring! Now everyone is going to have to have a snow scene or layout .......
Thanks Adam, will see what I can do without fouling the switch blades. Mr BadlandNP: yep I love how easy it is to clean! Found some blue xmas lights today and so strung them up for another test shot. Also temporarily connected up some power to the track and signals. Result: "It's getting cold and dark out there as the California Zephyr disappears into the gloom. It'll be well below freezing tonight, but the passengers will be nice and snug in their bunks." Pretty happy with the result
