I have a few steamers I'd like to add sound to. I used a Digitrax SDN144 type in a Mallet, which I love! Even works OK on DC (though it shouldn't haha). I heard these can be reloaded with other sounds, but by PC with some USB adapter; too much work for me. Is there a shop or service that will load different/better sound sets onto my Digitrax decoders for a fee? I'd prefer my Mikados sound like Mikados, my Northerns sound like Northerns, etc. Also, I know there are better sound decoders out there, but I really like $40 per loco, over $110+ per loco. I use these as well. Programming new sounds is quite easy. You would need a PR3 but nothing else is needed. ( the PR3 can be used with decoder pro as well) Don't know about a shop but someone would probably do it for a few bucks.
