    Just hooked up the NCE PB5 and without touching anything my loco started up when I plugged the system in.
    Engine is running, lights are on but no movement and now my cab says unable to read cv. No functions work to control anything.
    I've tried POM and program track and neither one works now.
    Think maybe I should just send this booster back and stay with my plain ole system.

    Does anyone know what could be going on here?

    The hookup is simple, at least it appears so. The red light is on steady and manual tells me that's good. Exasperated.:frustrated:

    Thanks for any help I can get.

    Do you mean PB105, I don't think NCE has a PB5. Also, what is your "plain ole system". If it is a Power Cab, then the PB105 is not designed to work with it. The PB105 is for the Power House Pro system and the SB3a is for the Power Cab.

    [h=2]From the nce site:

    NEW! Now in stock at most distributors our new PB5. An updated version of our 5 Amp PB105 booster (it looks the same) but now includes the power supply. MSRP $199.95 - a $20 savings over the old PB105 plus P515.
    PB5 part number: 524-045
    The PB105 is still available on special order.

    Uh oh...yes I bought the new PB5, but is it not compatible with the Power Cab?

    I guess I've got some more reading to do. I thought this booster would work.

    Anyone in the market for a brand new PB5?

    Meanwhile I'll be at the NCE website reading up on what I should have read before making this purchase...how embarrassing.

    A simple call to the very helpful people at NCE would probably save days of posts. Phone calls are pretty cheap nowadays.

    I thought they had a special version of booster to work with the power cab.
