I have a New old stock Soundtraxx DSX sound only decoder. I took it out of the package and hooked it up to the tester and all the functions but the chuff work. I have reset the decoder and I have checked to see it the chuff volume is turned up and I still get no chuff sound. Am I missing a CV or something else?

Do you have a wiper and cam set up on this locomotive? Also you must select the cam to be active (CV52) I can't find the correct value so I can't tell you what that shoud be. A call to SoundTraxx might be in order here. Also make sure you don't have the (CV56) set to zero.

I am assuming that since you have it hooked up to the tester you do not have a cam set up. In that case, you want to make sure that the cam is disabled in CV52 (the default is enabled).

Thanks for the help. CV52 was the problem. I am chuffin' away now.

    Thanks again.

Glad to hear that you got it working. What value did you have to program into CV52? Someone else might run into the same problem.

I did not read the CV first but I think it must have been set at 0. I entered several values to check it and most all of them gave the chuff but it was slightly different for each. louder, softer, deeper, double. Anything but Zero worked. Thanks again.
