Greetings All, Found out this week that a move to the Dallas area may be in my future within the next couple of years. Having lived in Phoenix for 10+ years and not having a basement, I was happy to get back to the east coast 5 years ago. It appears that the Dallas area is much like Phoenix in that just about everything is slab construction. What do you DFW area modelers do for space? Ideally all I'm looking for is an unobstructed 30 foot long piece of wall for a shelf layout. Do any of these "game rooms" I see listed with homes in the area come with a loft area that large? Thanks! Mike C.
I was just gonna say...my son has a house with a basement in the Phoenix area. Ya just gotta tell your realtor you want a house with a basement...let them find it ;-)
There are no basements in Dallas - the clay here makes it too expensive to build a house with one. I use a second bedroom for an 8 x 10 L shaped layout, but we also have an upstairs game room that would meet your criteria. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how much home you get here - we came from California and could not believe the homes. Finding a home with a large upstairs game room is a snap.... If you can find a home with a three car garage, you might be able to build a train room - but remember winters are cold and summers keep the devil warm
Mikey,,,cool deal!!!!! Anytime you need help just let me know. Get a four car garage and we can convert two stalls into a awesome layout room. Some framing, some HVAC. BOOM ,,,,layout space. Adios, Wyatt
