Hope this the correct place to post this. I recently acquired an old Kemtron brass caboose kit w/o instructions. Need help to get started on this. Am I supposed to cut sides and ends out of the brass stock they are printed on? I am guessing soldering is best way to assemble most of kit, but I have read in other places that CA is sometimes used instead of solder.

    Any advice?

Howdy David, yes soldering is best for these old kits. Some would use CA or epoxy but if you want this thing to stay together then get out the iron or small torch and get to work. These kits were engraved on brass sheets and you will need to cut them out. You could use a heavy duty Dremel cut off wheel for the large cuts but for windows, etc, you need to drill holes and then use a jewelers saw and files to cut them out. These kits were made in a day when modelers knew how to use tools, most today don't even know what a jewelers saw is anyway. Good luck, a fine model can be built from these old Kemtron kits, I have built many of them.

    Woodie,

Thanks for the response. I do know how to use tools, tho I'm no craftsman. This does look like it would make into a very nice caboose. I do love cabooses and hate that railroads have stopped using them. Progress.......
