Looks like the Atlas Forums have been removed completely from their website. I was just one there a week ago, I know they had closed them for new discussions and comments, but I thought I recall they said they'd keep them open for future reference and such... That is too bad because there was a lot of good discussions over there. Oh well... http://forum.atlasrr.com/
Unfortunate. There was a ton of great info there, I agree. Wonder why they were removed? Can't imagine it was costing them money to keep a bunch of dead web pages around.

As I recall, they were indeed going to keep those pages available for reference. I don't remember any stated time limitation.
When the great library at Alexandria, Egypt was distroyed I was very upset. However, I eventually was able to let it go. Now this, many of us invested a lot of time there. Sad to see it gone in a poof of electrons. But, there are models to be built and trains to chase. (Man, am I really that old? In an earlier life I was also Napolion.)
It may not really be gone... I got a server time-out error which doesn't concern me as much as a 404 error would. I remember there was a period last year where I thought they removed it but it did come back within a few days. Cross fingers. -Mike
I doubt atlas hosts their own server, more than likely they used a 3rd party to host their site and forums. The forums probably got taken down to eliminate a bill for something that was now useless bits and bytes taking up space on a hard drive somewhere.
Seems as though an operation as large as Atlas would be on a dedicated server, with multiple storage and backup abilities in many, many terabytes. Their old forums shouldn't have taken up that much space, so hope it is at least backed up somewhere.
Or something that happened to me, I had a forum that I no longer used so I wasn't updating the software. Eventually I got a warning from my hosting company that my site was using 80% of the server resources and they shut me down. I had to go and update the old forum software to correct it. I would have just deleted it but had to make sure that was the problem and once it was fixed, just left it. Next time I'll just delete the forum. Jason
It probably was done as a cost saving measure. Too bad there was a lot of great information there intermixed with the less than informational stuff.
There is still some 3ds here, for the history: http://web.archive.org/web/20131206154306/http://forum.atlasrr.com/
