I have heard rumors by a reliable source that Digitrax will stop supporting Simplex radio. Has anyone else heard this new? I have check their web site looking for confirmation, but nothing of the sort was or is posted. Could this be a big push to get uses to turn to Duplex?

I already have a UR92 and a 402D throttle. It was the first I received, but I was looking to get a R throttle because there are clubs who do not support Duplex as of yet.

    Looking for clarification.

    Peace vey be with you,

Haven't heard that and I hang out on the Digitrax User group on Yahoo. I suspect support for Duplex, Simplex and IR will go away under time. I visited a club recently that uses Wi-Fi throttles thru JMRI to run trains. They were very disappointed when they came to my ops session and I don't use the Wi-Fi yet. I have the capablity but my Wi-Fi receiver is located too far from the train room for reliable operation. Probably need to replace the Wi-Fi in the house and move the old one to the train room.

I was told the same thing from a fellow club member that is also a club member at another club that a Digitrax employee works at. As for truth, I'm sure there is some there, but as for timeframe, who knows when.

In time it will probably go away, but until I see Digitrax producing their own type of WiFi based system.

Honestly I think doing away with the Simplex would be a step in the wrong direction, as for starting out in the wireless, its great. I have both systems on my layout.

I read that the Simplex UR's will not be available for sale from Digitrax after the beginning of October, but service and support for Simplex components will continue until the supplies of repair parts run out. Not sure if this applies to the throttles, too, or not. This was supposedly mentioned in a regular notice sent out by Digitrax to their dealers. Some of the problems with the Duplex radio throttles has been blamed on interference from nearby blue tooth devices, so it should be interesting to see how the development of blue tooth throttles plays out.
