I just want to thank all of you for your help in N scale questions. This thread could apply to all train board, but I only have used the N scale board. I just recently went on a different forum to look for help for something non train related. About half of the people who responded were pricks that made comments that tried to make you feel stupid and offered no help. I have always received good information and suggestions on N scale train board with out the attitude. So thanks RGW
Glad to hear your story. And as the saying goes, hopefully you'll have many chances to "pay it forward."
You will ALWAYS find a good group of people on this website. The Administrators on this site do a real good job of keeping the site going and everybody on an even keel. NO shouting matches, name calling or bottom of the deck dealing. We are all equal here, and we all are still playing with trains! LOL Maybe some are a little bigger than others, but HEY it's a GOOD HOBBY! MODEL RAILROADING IS FUN
I do remember back when the Atlas n scale forum was running, there was one or two posters that would get sorta wound up if somebody questioned there comment on a engine. ( I beleave they were Bachmann haters ,most comments were how they were junk,ect...) and would throw around phrases like " I have been working on n scale for 25 years so I know what i am talking about" . However this seemed to be only one or two people.
Never mind that..Some of those guys were just trolling for an argument.I was always on Trainboard and Atlas, when Atlas died,I went to another site.I had enough of that place a few weeks ago,not going back,I'm her4e exclusively. We're playing with toy trains,it's supposed to be fun,if I want confrontation,I'll go to a political site,LOL!!!
Glad to see that this place seems to have taken in a lot of the best from now defunct forums like Atlas, and left the bad parts behind. Also good to see some of the same names, going all the way back to the AOL N board days. It's nice that people haven't jumped ship for FaceBook, like they have with so many other subjects. Personally, I think FB just doesn't offer the same kind of communication as the old style forums and lists.
Having been here for awhile now I have found this site to be quite an enjoyable experience over a few of the former sites that I have been on. For the most part any criticism has been in the constructive vein from the majority of folks. And any problem with equipment that gets posted here usually gets a lot of solutions offered, and while maybe not exactly solving the issue, does manage to help clear the cobwebs enough for the individual to finally solve the issue themselves.
I agree Lou! I've been here for a long time. I'm also on other forums. I consider this my home. When I got sick in 2004, this site was a great help to get my mind on N Scale & off what was happening to me. I've also met wonderful people that have turned out to be great friends. Not website friends, I mean REAL friends! I've said it before & I'll say it again, TRAINBOARD IS THE BEST ON THE WEB!
I like how we can disagree and poke a little fun but still be respectful. Everybody's got their own thing and own way of doing something and that's cool. I might like to do something different but if your way works for you, it isn't wrong. I've learned a lot more than a few things on Trainboard and for that, I'm grateful. Andy Tetsu Uma
I like this forum far better than the other one I frequent, more SP&S modelers, more N scalers, and the folks are generally friendlier here.
I have found N Scale Trainboard incredibly educational, useful, funny and i thank John Colombo for encouraging me to join many years ago. It was great to initially mine the history of threads that were important to me and now to follow along and occasionally contribute. Thanks to all, Jack S
