Ok, first of all, let me say I am a bonafide diehard N-scaler. Started in it 1979 and never looked back. I model the Mopac at the UP/WP merger era so I can run a lot of different colors on my layout. Needless to say, an extensive collection. I enjoy setting up selling tables at train shows and have graduated from one table of N scale only items to four tables over the last 8 years. I work away from home and had been on the east coast since 2006. Lots of train shows. I am now working in Nashville TN. I like doing shows because it is a way to part with stuff I can't use but I also get to meet a lot of the best N scale folks in the area. Great entertainment for a guy that spends most of his time on a construction site in a camper trailer. Presently going thru withdrawal pains because there are very few shows here. I see there is a show in Wartrace TN coming up end of April. Can any of the local guys advise if it is worth setting up to sell at this show or just go as a spectator? I have done shows before that were a bust and I didn't make back the cost of the tables. Not a real big deal in the name of entertainment, but I do like to at least break even. What say guys?

I've been hoping someone else would reply to this thread because while I live close to there, I have not been able to make it to the show. I believe this will only be the third year of it and I've always had some kind of conflict. I do hope to make it this year. Not having been, I don't know if it would be worth it to sale there, but I would definitely suggest going if you can make it. Looking at pictures of previous years they've had a modular layout set up. The layout is probably the Tennessee Valley Model Railroaders from Murfreesboro, and if they are there it would be worth going just to check them out if you haven't seen them already. You would also be right by a busy CSX mainline. There is also another small town close by (Bell Buckle, also on the mainline) where the very popular Bell Buckle Cafe is.

FYI, I wouldn't bother with any of the shows in the northern half of Alabama.the ones I attended were all pretty small. Lionel seemed to be the most popular. I referred to Huntsville as the black hole of model railroading while I lived there. Don't think it's changed. Birmingham had quite a few modelers but the swap meets were a bust.

A little off topic but the name of the town/train show, Wartrace. Is that pronounced War-trace or Wart-race?

Based on the information on the Wartrace Chamber Of Commence website, I believe it is pronounced War-Trace.

This is one I suppose I oughta go to - only 60 miles...and I've heard it pronounced as war trace. Quite close to Shelbyville, once the home of the largest manufacturer of pencils in the world...convenient to the Jack Daniel's distillery also.

Still kind of undecided on whether to set up at the show. I did see on the LHS website that there are a couple of N scale layouts on the home tour schedule in past shows. I am planning on going for sure. Will see what the weather looks like closer to the show date and go from there.
