Mine runs perfect. Only problem is the couplers are not compatible with my Kato Coal Porter rolling stock. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jack
Here you go Jack. The Micro-Trains 2004 Underslung coupler will work on the tender and will mate a bit better with Kato than the Bachmann coupler.
I don't see any extra contacts on the decoder where an additional LED could be wired up. Cheers, -Mark
Anemic Sound I received mine yesterday and compared to the video and my other sound equipped steam locos, the sound on my Berk is pretty weak. The speaker also has quit a bit of hiss and the whistle is barely audible. Could this be a bad speaker or are there some CV's I could adjust to up the volume? F8 just seems to turn the sound on/off. Thanks, Kevin
Got mine today ! And it had the slow speed jerk...... I adjusted the CV's according to instructions in the other post and it helped greatly in forward , reverse is still a bit off , but better . Also with the adjustments it will surge in reverse if I try to run too fast . But at yard speeds its running OK . I also reduced the chuff volume a bit (CV 131) and may reduce it a bit more . Overall I'm pretty happy with this locomotive . The only thing appearance wise that's off is the lack of ashpan detail . This is a common fault with N scale steamers, Has anyone ever tried to address this lack of detail ?
Unfortunately there are no additional outputs on the Bachmann N Scale Berk Tsunami decoder. The TCS FL4 4 function decoder will fit in the tender and provide an additional 4 outputs that can be mapped to functions 0 thru 12. Alternately the Digitrax TL1 single output decoder can be used for 1 non directional output. The function key mapping of the TL1 is restricted to F0 thru F4.
I have used the TL1 as a function only decoder, and I won't do it again as a firebox flicker. It's weak and stinks at that role.
