Several stores did receive them. One particular establishment on the Atlantic Seaboard that has both a web and brick and mortar presence and is known for good prices received more than a few. The popular road names sold out almost as quickly as they hit the website. Some of the less popular lasted a day, or so. I would not be surprised if the other establishments that received some sold out quickly. These things sold even faster than the Fox Valley waggontop cabooses. I would hope that Atlas plans to issue some more of these. I have seen one or two on FeePay with highly jacked up prices.
We have mentioned previously that the first batch we got was not the entire production of the first run. There was some of every item, but not the entirety of any. The remainder are due in next week, so should be hitting stores by the end of the month, provided the container gets in and out of the port in a timely manner.
Thanks, Paul!! My dealer, FRTS, got shorted adding to the already very long wait for my three CP units with sound. I am really looking forward to finally having them! Dave
I have one non sound and undecorated unit on order at Chuck's. Still waiting patiently! It's going to look great in WP's Pumpkin scheme!
The PRR version is Brunswick Green which is close to SP&S green. I was planning to get one and re-letter it. John
Hi Paul, I was planning to buy one of the new DCC Ready S2s. I checked TCS and it is not listed, and Digitrax lists two hard wired Z scale decoders for the S2. Any idea if there will be a drop-in decoder available? Thanks, John
I received the undecorated Gold Series S-2 yesterday, 31 July 2015. I am pleased with it so far, however have run it on a test loop and checked the various sound functions. Originally, I had thought of having it painted for Baltimore and Ohio. Now I am considering just leaving it grey and adding the B&O decal and the separate details which include the bell, smoke stack and hand railing.
I was thrilled to see that these were being shipped from New Jersey at the start of July. I was less thrilled to find out my sound units were not amongst them. Any idea when these are going to show up, Paul? Dave
Those of you waiting for undec sound units from Pete might want to visit the Atlas S-2 page on his website. He explains there that he was shorted 27 units by Atlas, and didn't have them to ship. I had two on order, but my interest in them was more technical (seeing the decoder board inside and what speaker Atlas used for the sound, etc.), so I told him to cancel my undec order and send me a single decorated unit that I could play around with. One day I'm sure Atlas will do these in NKP paint, and then I'll order several. But right now I think the supply chain isn't exactly working as Atlas had hoped or intended. John C.
