*Sigh*. All of the mergers have really taken away some real gems.

And so many structures are gone too. I have a love of interlocking towers and so many are gone. Like SA Tower at the B&O's summit of the Alleghenies at Sand Patch, PA, manned at the time. This tower was razed some years ago, along with others on the road. Took this on 11/28/1981.

Taken the same day in 1981 at the west portal of Sand Patch tunnel. Yes, *Sigh*. If someone invents a time machine, I'll be first in line.

Pushers cutting off an eastbound at Sand Patch. Love the colored position light signals too -- such pure B&O legacy. The large area in the background once sported a wye to turn helpers. I want to buy that house on the right. (y)

Being a collector of train orders, I enjoy all of the trackside places where they were copied. I have a Sand Patch order, but it is on a "Chessie" era form.

A recent trip to the Pacific Northwest netted me an interesting assortment of photos.

A few from the Oregon Rail Heritage Center

Nice to see a photo of an unaltered UP caboose.

I was most impressed by ORHC's collection, it's small, but the things they have, well, are some of the coolest.

    Some more pics

I'm trying to remember- What was the original owner of the RSD5?

Utah Railway originally owned that RSD-5.

Did they buy it new? I know as time has passed, they've owned a bunch of second hand stuff.

It's a shame a few others of their ALCo fleet did not survive. I believe there is one other, of another model.

This is an interesting view, with that signal and exhaust heat. Seeing that bridge, looks like it used to be double track.

Late Sunday afternoon 08/02/2015, CSX Q463 at Lugoff, SC. Happy to see the SAL depot still stands. It's used by the Signal Department and may still be an open Agency.

In Knoxville, TN in 1977, the University of Tennessee Volunteers went 4-7 for the season. Things were much better in the L&N yard as Alcos abounded. This is a former Monon unit and an SCL unit is trailing.

Another C-420 shot from Knoxville several months later in 01/1978. Brrrr!
