Since I started building this outfit, there seemed to be a need for a short line that serviced customers along the branch line. This also allowed me to use power and cars that differ from what was on the carriers I chose to model. Plus get a little crazy with rule #1 (its my MRR and will do what I want to ) Having done almost all the build and scenery myself, I bear all the blame for its shortcomings. Out of a 30ft x 50ft MRR, I am getting down to just a couple small parts that need to have some scenery installed and this is one of the last, dont know why it has taken so long to get it this far along, still want to add some chain link fencing, never enough people. And why dont we have enough pickup trucks in HO scale? Virtually nothing from the 80-90's Trident makes some if you can ever find them, cars are no problem, hows about some more pickup trucks? The Hindsight Industrial Railroad (HIR) operates on about 30ft of industrial trackage and has 2 CF7's and a Old Athearn Hustler for power. Plus a few cars have been acquired and patched for the HIR. Anyway here are a few progress photos of the World HQ and locomotive facilities for the HIR, and the Mohr bulk oil facility, and Willis CO-OP elevator.
The layout is looking really good and yes the devil is in the detail, I am also at a similar stage and adding figures, fencing etc. I think the more detail you can add then the more interesting the layout becomes. Look forward to seeing more updates
Looking great Tom! I could sure use some of your help! I agree, one of those Locos need to be. Numbered 20/20! Thanks for posting the pictures!
Great work! Really like the layout of the industries(tracks, buildings and unloading areas)! And that "1 step forward, 2 steps back" is priceless!!! JMS
Thanks guys! I appreciate all the comments, I do need to number one of them to 2020. Now why didnt I think of that? I was also glad someone could see the 1step fwd 2 steps back too, I could barely make it out and I knew it was there LOL
Here is the HIR passenger train, not much business apparently, I made the loco with spare parts I had in the "junk box" The cars are vintage Walthers "Oscar and Piker" Being as the HIR is a subsidiary of the Frisco is was fitting to name the 1/3 loco after a horse although this one not a famous race horse. But the horse of Civil War General Alpheus S. Williams, "Plug Ugly", not having enough room for both, I settled on just "Plug". Thanks for stopping by.
