During a short vacation in Flanders (Belgium), I shot a few films of trains in stations like Antwerpen Centraal and Gent St Pieters.
Transwaggon ships almost everything that is considered 'dry goods'. So, these cars can hold almost anything, like consumer goods, machinery, car parts, wood, paper. The new-looking passenger station has been built beneath the old, 19th century, beautiful railway terminal of Antwerp. There are several levels with platforms and shops. The old station has always been a terminal, but that was not very practical for the TGV from Amsterdam to Paris, so they built the new platforms beneath the old building, and a railway tunnel under the city. It is a very interesting and astonishing station, with that mixture of old and new.
Hi Thieu, glad to see you back, I've missed your postings. This latest is a wonderful view, thank you. The pigeons at Ghent St Pieter (forgive my spelling) look just like the ones I've seen in New York, New Orleans, and here in Gulfport, Mississippi. Did our pigeons emigrate back to Europe, or are the ones you show merely those that missed the boat?
