I have an ABBA SF set of the GP60s and are doing the disassemble/detailing job, so after I pulled off the MT couplers I found that 6 of them are 1015s & 2 of them are the longer 1016s! Is this just a assembly mistake or do they need to be in certain location? Also will super glue hold the hand rails on? They drive me crazy as they are always popping out at the shows and I know its just a matter of time before I loose one. thx
Never went so far as to take the couplers off, Bill, so can't help you there. But I'd recommend just a teeny bit of Aileen's Tacky Glue for the handrails. Sticks to just about anything but is removable after drying. It'll do the job, and dries transparent.
Bill, another good product, along with Aileen's, is the Formula 560 Canopy glue. Dries clear and can be removed easily. Carl
Based on your "ABBA" math, it'd conclude that the the 2 longer 1016's are the pilot couplers from the front of the A's. I have an ABA lashup and love the set - even though it's 20+ years out of my target era.
That makes sense because of the plows on the fronts, Ah good old Aileens tacky glue will see if it is thin enough to set in the holes if not will try the 560 glue. So couplers painted rusty, grills blacked, fuel tanks on A units moved back, air tanks relocated, truck side frames painted silver, fans dry brushed silver, motor bearings lubed & a light spray of black soot on top and dull coated. Have I missed anything before they are reassembled ? They are DC units. FYI mine would break apart while running at the shows, turned out the contact strips were twisted off contact with rear trucks on both B units. But a quick call to FVM and they sent me out a new set N/C. thx guys.
