I just learned that Harold K. Vollrath has left us, due to a broken hip and dementia, at the age of 92. I did a lot of business with "K" buying prints from his wonderful collection of locomotive photographs, dating back to about the time I was born. I purchased his New York Central collection at auction a couple of years ago, and will attach one of my favorites, Hudson 5368. Rest in Peace, Harold.
Sad news like this always reminds me of our own mortality and short time on earth. Model like there's no tomorrow!
Mr. Vollrath was one of the most eloquent railroad photographers, equal to O. Winston Link. Sir, You WILL be Missed...R.I.P., and thank you!
