Well August is all but over, how did you do this last weekend of the month.

I used my "weekend" day and was able to finish the Atlas GP9 in B&M bicentennial trim, reassemble and finish box art so it's ready for sale. Now to find time to add it to my ebay store. I also finished the Atlas GP40-2 also in B&M paint. The CB&Q switcher is done with the exception of the number boards. No work on the modules.

So how about you? Did you get everything done you had set out to do? Let us know. We'll all come back on Friday, September 4th and do it again. Until then, have a happy and safe week and...

    High Greens!

With the summer heat, I really can't get anything done on the layout. So when the wife went out with friends, I put this kit together....

I survived the NTS. That was a major accomplishment this weekend

No modeling this weekend, but I did get a little bit sun burned at Sonoma Raceway. Still, the races were great!

Nothing. Busy scanning old magazine article for future reference. Well, maybe that is actually something.

Painted another wall of clouds in the train room. Also painted the very top of the cathedral ceiling.

In the work shop, I got started on one of my South River Modelworks kits. "H.W. Myers". Got the main walls of the main building trimmed up, braced, and pre-weathered w/ alcohol-ink wash.

    Finished with this one:

This is also the one that I was diagnosing a drive sticking problem at the start of the weekend. Finally, it was the motor. I lubed it, made a few short tests on the two-foot test track, then later (next morning) ran it around the loop. I figured that if it runs like that for one hour without relapsing, it's fixed. It worked fine!

On my momentum, I also returned to service an Athearn F7A that had an odd intermittent noise where it slowed down and sounded like it was dragging something. I ran the mechanism off track (wires clipped to the truck pickups and chassis) and held it by the trucks, and soon found by the vibrations that the front truck had something (vibrations were strongest there). After various checks on the open gear mechanism, including removing the axles, I had a hunch and swapped the axles. It ran very well after that!

Third time the charm: an Athearn GP7 that ran rather rough - complete lube job and it ran smoothly.

    A very productive weekend.

Well I've got my first Benchwork done in the new house and found out that only half of my tracks and modeling supplies made the move. :-( YUK! not happy that I'm going to have to purchase again. But new track should make some nice conductivity along the rails for DCC.
Delayed but still on it. :)

Is it that time of year again? For me the fishing season winds down and the modeling season starts. Looks like it's time to go back to the train room

This is one of the great facets of this hobby. It's there whenever you decide to participate. Just dust it off, and go! :)

Went into the train room a few minutes ago. Man did I make a mess in there or what. Time to start cleaning and getting things going again.

Are you still looking at doing a bit of HOn30?

Yep, I have the track laid, just got to figure out how to wire it. And I have a spot to place 2-3 cars of HOn3 as well. This will just be static to kinda show that there was a connection once to the old rio grande southern. This track will be pretty much over grown too.
