I have the pictures of the kiln. Its done but am waiting till i get the tramway done to figure out how it sits. Don't know if 3/8ths is the right height or if they goofed and gave the wrong measurement. I am getting off this thing soon. My hands are hurting bad. Shots below, Dan

The complex is really starting to come together now, and that loader looks great too. That's great how it can move up and down the log cars.

I really like the McCabe sawmill layout. I didn't have room for there sawmill. But almost everything else is here. I scratch built the sawdust burner that is connected to the boiler house. I like it and so many other folks out there. They are master kits not for the faint of heart, But look so good when finished. I have the tramway yet and a couple of buildings for the town and the water tower up on the mountain to supply water to everyone. The water tower you see in those last few shots are the fire system used all over the town and the sawmill areas. I like both of the water towers!

I started the tramway yesterday. Built a bunch of bents for the tramway. Then i got to the steps where you put the tramway surface together. When i started it i came up with the fact i couldn't use it all. The kiln is in teh wrong place for all the tram to be used. I also had to change the way the different trams went so i could fit them to the area i have. After i got that figured out they are glued and are now drying. Shown is the way they did it and the way it will work on mine. I think i am about half way right now. Am really wanting to see how this comes together. I also know that there are two boxes of stuff coming my way right now. All kinds of track and buildings and all kinds of stuff for the layout. I can't remember all of it. I know there is one more coming but haven't shown up yet on my card. 28 days till we leave here and i am getting that ants'ie feeling. Looking forward to that. The truck is almost ready and i will be working on getting the coach ready for the trip soon. But i still want something to keep me busy while i am waiting. There is nothing major to do on the truck or trailer. Hope i can finish this post before we loose electric. Storms coming in fast!! Shots of the work below, Dan

Ugg, Laying down track and spike are no fun to me. From this one i am glad i went with Kato track!!!! Got the tramway all glued, Painted and am laying rail down. Man thats a pita!!! I only have that much done right now. I have since placed the rail down and super glued it in place. I didn't do that first. The instructions says that is Optional. Seems to make it easier though.I will be shooting spikes at afternoon and evening with those. It looks good so far. I don't like the spikes. they look out of scale to me.

It has pre-drilled holes where the spikes go but ran out of spikes! So i thinned them out to get a few on the other rails. I feel sorry for anyone who lays down his rails with spikes in N scale. They would have to have smaller fingers and smaller hands to go with them!! I still have the drying Pads to build and stack wood on them. That should take all day. This has been my hardest model so far. Must be over 100+ parts in the kit. I would hate to have to do there sawmill complex. It would take weeks for sure. There sawmill Is really big and detailed. They even make a lighting and motion kit for it!! I have some newer shots of the tramway in place. I had to modify the entrance where the tramway meets the sawmill and it don't even look right. I may have to pry the sawmill up and add some height to get it right. Will have to wait and see yet. I don't want to break the sawmill. Like you said Jeepy84, Its a pain! Shots below, Dan

I didn't like the way the tram came to the sawmill, So i changed it so it looks better. I added a 1/4" piece of foam board to lift the sawmill. It looks so much better. I will have pictures later. I am having a problem with the site i use. I think they are working on the site.

Ok, Pictures. I haven't finished the sawmill complex yet. Should by tonight or tomorrow. The tramway looks so much better at the sawmill end. No steep incline! I am not sure how many shots i can put on a post here but here goes. enjoy.Dan

The sawmill is finished. Last shots of it below. Thats it till October. We move the 28th and should get to Killeen by the 2-3rd. It will be after that till i start anything else. I like how the sawmill complex came out. It was a pain to build but it looks good enough that even the rivet counters should like it. Some of the shots below, Dan

13X19 inches. Takes up a lot of room. The whole layout is 3X5 foot.

Ok folks, We are leaving for our new home the 28th. I have things ordered from Fifer hobby and will pick that up when we go. Want to see his layout! may also see his new door layout. I will be off line around the 25-26th. We should be there the 2nd. Thats if we have no issues. We will be heavy and will be taking it slow. and using more back roads. That should make it easier on the truck and trailer. I don't have anything else i can do on the layout. I have one engine and a few cars yet so i can run them till we get closer to loading this thing. When we get unloaded and get things somewhat in order i will be doing lots more with the layout. Next..Track and Turnouts! I hope they get the internet up and running along with the sat. tv. May take a few days for that. Later All, Dan

We live in a rv fulltime. First trip with this rv though. We are just getting to busted up to travel anymore. I have a hard time with high mountains and altitudes. Getting worse as that is why i am moving to Texas. Sea level and the humility is higher so i can breath better, or that is what they say. Don't want to be on oxygen...yet!! No bigger layout though.
