First off...having been a closet Pennsy freak in my wild youth..that sure looks like Brunswick Green, and not black.
Certainly not eight grand worth of loco.
Lots of pinstripe damage...don't care if it's a "crisp box" or not. Headlight lens yellowed, side ladders rusty, some paint scuffs....and not one photo of the underside to see how much wear there is or even battery damage.
2332 is single motor, and no magnetraction. Desirable? Yes, but you don't get that kind of money for a pristine one.
Read up on this...and see the outrageous collector prices at the bottom...even the highest...well, this offering is seven times higher.
    http://www.postwarlionel.com/cgi-bin/postwar?ITEM=2332
"low" collector prices in the $400 range.
I'd buy one....but with the wear, lack of underneath shots, and single motor with no magnetraction, tops is $75 just to have one.

    As always,
    Opinion.

As always, I am wondering where the price came from. How do they come up with this stuff, except using a dart board, wild guess, or just fishing?

    I smell a rat.
The listing from Remington, VA for the 2332 GG1 for eight grand....now this listing for a 1947 issue 2332 GG1 box only for three hundred:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1947-Lionel-2332-Locomotive-GG-1-Box-only/331618959093

Different seller ID's....but same city and state....what are the chances.....oh, and let's make up a whole bunch of different ID's to throw the investigators off the track...

I think one might be inner box, one outer....but what the heck?

"Remington is a small incorporated town in Fauquier County, Virginia. The population was 598 at the 2010 census."

So, if they ain't cousins, maybe they're married.

You tell me the chances of a town of less than six hundred coming up with two sellers of the same type and year stuff.......

    Dave...with no opinion

It's been done before. I've been a member of that site for 18+ years now. We used to see it happen more often, but there were indeed people using multiple IDs, shilling their own stuff, etc. Folks who have not been aboard there as long may not have seen it happen. Until about 2002, the place was much, much looser than what you see today. You could even leave Feedbacks, positive and negative, for people you had not even dealt with! I know that first hand.

Forty bucks. He knows enough to plug the power pack in and get a "hum", but not enough to test it (or report results, anyway).
Cheapest set. Fixed couplers, riveted to car.
Rusty track (but you cannot see that in the photo). Engine is hurt. Front of motor block not seated in boiler (look at front truck). Hairball siderod/mainrods missing, as are the screws to hold the one rod per side to the rear driver.
For what you'd have to find to fix it, and the unknown as to whether it works or not, ten bucks delivered.
    Opinion.

Our new favourite seller. #60 trolley, later version, blue lettering, and he's trolling for a $375BIN.

    http://www.postwarlionel.com/cgi-bin/postwar?ITEM=60
Ridiculously high collector site lists an early black-lettered unit for $223, and one with a broken number board for $24.00.

    Maybe $75 is realistic?

I would have to go look, but I think all mine are early black lettered versions. And I paid tops ten bucks for them...and half were free.

"Variation C: BLUE lettering, and two-piece spring bumpers. No clerestory vents. The most common variation."

Almost all, if not all, MPC. Prince Albert can SOS in several tenders (and there are about twice as many tenders as steam locos).
Look carefully at the loco photos. How deep was the water they sat in, and for how long?
Box of oh, a dozen pieces of track, some rusty....pig in a poke, with the water damage and rust, and the MPC heritage, 50 bucks and that's a push.
    Delivered.

Somewhere we've posted this before, but I couldn't find it.
Not an auction, as there is no time left on bidding.
The value is in the 225E, which looks complete.
The 249E is parts only..the Zamac frame has gone. Running board split, expansion has shoved the cylinders forward and out at the bottom. I see spalling on one driver centre on the 265E, and the boiler/cab is exploded, front truck gone.
Trucks missing, couplers missing, box coupler hoods missing...
Makes you wonder what's wrong with the 225E.
Another pig in a poke, hundred bucks delivered on the best day.

    Opinion.

I looked. We see a lot of MPC stuff in various stages of disintegration and post them here.

I suppose, if it didn't sell for the bigger bucks they tried first time, they offier it for a bit less (or more) and try again.

Yes. Forty delivered. Rusty, missing shield and conveyor belt, filthy, "good condition" but does it even run?
    As-is, ten bucks delivered, tops.

"Let me start by saying I know nothing about model trains."
    Yeah, caught that.
He copied the data from this page for his description, leaving out the abysmal pulling power:

Interestingly, "This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing."
    Really?
    Could have fooled me.

    Current bid (1) of $9.99.
    Now we're getting somewhere.

Up to $15.50 now. I wonder if we'll see a case of the bidding sillies on this one?
