Rivarossi was there in the beginning making steamers for Atlas. They still show up on ebay every week. That was over 40 years ago. I have maybe a dozen of them. You can get them cheap and play around with them to make all sorts of things. Here is an old Atlas mikado redone a bit in C&O colors and custom made handrails. Now lets see your Rivarossi power!
Well, here's my Rivarossi power. The only one I think I have. It's going to be the base for my H7. Sorry for the crummy pic. Didn't feel like grabbing batteries for my flash and my 1.8 makes the depth of field a little rough. Ah well, it's not like my layout is done anyhow... but here it is. (notice my fantasizing with the vandy on it).
Hello, here is my 20 year old Challenger, they run very smoth. p.s. i'm looking for an tender of the Challenger, can anybody help me? greets Frank
:tb-biggrin:A Mike becoming something "better" or at least different! have 2 more Mike's and 2 Pacifics all to become NP some how........
All my Rivarossi steamers have been severely kit bashed. This Prairie started life as a light Pacific. Another view of the Prairie. This Mikado has a new tender. This Pacific got quite a hatchet job. Now an Atlantic.
So, it's still in process, but it does run and chuff along! The Riv mechanism has the correct 56 inch drivers for an NP W-3, so it became a challenge to do this bash. The MP mike in front of it has 60 inch drivers, and it is an obvious difference when they are side by side. And a link to a vid,
You can see most all of mine, except for my Big Boy, a B&O blue Pacific, and a Milwaukee orange Hiawatha Pacific, on my website (graciously hosted by George Irwin). All pretty much stock. Doug
My first n-scale was an Atlas set with a 2-8-2. If my memory serves me correctly, there were decals to use on the tender. Mine is now labelled Baltimore and Ohio. It ran okay in 2015 which is great for a 1974 purchase.
does this count as a RR? A big boy put out in PRR colors inported by Con Cor. I don't see many of these around. It is always a good runner. Con-Cor PRR Big Boy from Factory by TrainsNTractors posted Aug 4, 2006 at 2:33 PM
Of course it counts as a RR if it was made by RR. The building also counts as an old Atlas lumber mill too! Doug
