MR's virginian project layout

    quick question would this be possible to build using 24'' radius on the mainlien and the 21.5 r on the branch i have elongated oval with 24r up for temporary setup and just want to try and reuse the track its kato 2-220 curves and 16 2-150 straight tracks thanks again

    The quick answer is: Yes. You can certainly build a layout that uses all or most of your existing track. It might not look much like The Virginian, but it can be done.

    Here's a version of the track plan that uses your 2-220 curves and 2-150 straight track pieces. It results in a squared-off oval but retains the basic concept of The Virginian. Please bear in mind that the smaller radius curves (24" and smaller) means you may not be able to run extremely long equipment like you could with the broader curves in the previous plan.

    very intresting something to defitnely think about what kind of equipment could i run with this layout it will be sticking with the same theme of a coal hauling route with hopper cars gondolas and some bethgon coalporter cars will my sd70aces work on these urves just trying to figure out if reusing what i have is worth it or not also what is your opinion on using the remote vs manual turnouts thanks again

    I don't run HO, so I can't answer your question. Hopefully someone with HO experience will jump in to advise you if your equipment will operate on 21-inch curves.
