Nope! But then I don't really have a home. The best I can do at this time is a 24" x 3" programming track.
I might ought to qualify my "yes." I have a layout "under construction" for 7 years and 1st 2 sections not yet running. My "main" layout. And I have a tiny 2x3 foot sceniced layout I keep in a box, take to shows, hardly ever get out and run at home except when getting ready for a show. http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/511/LTAatGalv.jpg
Loopty loop for now, waiting to get the room addition finished to start the new layout. I have to have something to run trains on, I went for a few months without anything and I felt like I was going insane. Mike
I said "no" but do have three fremoN modules set up for switching. I had a 15'x13' N scale layout that I miss so very much. I tore it out to motivate me to move on to a more satisfying situation.
HO scale in a 30' X 50' bldg walk under outfit. Would do some things different next time. A DC operating system too, all pretty much old school. But it works for us. As always please carry on. Tom
Yep, the old Central Pennsylvania see photos at my Facebook page below; https://www.facebook.com/Central-Pennsylvania-Railroad-519927431428861/ I designed it for operations. Early diesels and lots of industries. I used to have car cards and waybills, but I change to switchlists, that way I don't have to read the tiny numbers on the cars. Schedule built on 5 day week which is tailored to each industries needs. Usually have 1 day to fill and 2 days to empty so that the per diem charges don't get billed!
Well, I have a HCD layout under construction. I have all the Unitrack I need, just need to add the feeders and start on a control panel, so I'm not running trains but I have a layout!
Sort of. I have the base for the 4x7 bent loop I want to do eventually. However, other priorities have prevented me from starting to carve the foam.
27' x 22' L-shaped chest-high, along-the-wall HO scale, old school DC; here's the track plan. Scenery and trackwork 95% done. John
Yes and sort of. Two N Scale, in progress. A small 2'x4' and a 36"x80" HCD N Scale. The HCD layout needs Turnout control first, before I can really try operating. G Scale in front runnable, although not fully ballasted. And currently covered in about 8" of snow yet!
Last house in CA had a 16x12 N scale layout. Hidden staging under the main layout. Took 5 minutes to make the entire loop with a 30 car train. I had planned to model the UP in the PNW with it. Kraft mill, lumber mill and a few industries were in place. Helix on one end, long, folded loop on the other. Then a move happened. Current house in Iowa doesn't have to room until the daughter gets her own place. I'm also giving alot of thought of switching to HOn3 and selling off the N scale stuff. Not sure on which railroad. Either Pacific Coast, DRGW Chilli line or a Caribbean/South American railroad. The cars are a little bigger and Blackstone is really seductive.
Art- Do you where the present day MinitrainS are made? Is he importing them, such as from China? Or actually making them in Germany?
I'm not sure. I'm almost tempted to say China, but it could be Germany. The runs are fairly small, so I'm not sure that would be a China thing.
Yes, my 4.5x8.5 Minneapolis, Louisville & Southern. I'm a fallen flag freak. http://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?threads/minneapolis-louisville-southern-railroad.67739/ The track is laid and extensively tested and for the most part reliable. I have a couple of warts that derail selected equipment that I continue to investigate. Otherwise I have been on the edge of scenery for several years.
I've been round the bend so much on this subject...creative vapor lock on what to do. I think I have settled on something simular to what Peter North did with his Virginian roundy round layout. I need something for shows and test run cars and at 4' x 5' seems the right size for transporting and ops I need. I don't need a lot of switches, just the ability to run around and take pictures.
This is now the 20 months of being between layouts. My most recent one was packed in the Spring of 2014 for a move that is still pending. It occupied an approximate 12 x 12 foot space in a spare bedroom and was a big down size of the one prior to that which was packed in 2005 (when we retired) and moved, but never rebuilt do to lack of space. After having the start of a "dream size" layout, it is difficult to dream in smaller terms especially when one has all the track, structures, locomotives and rolling stock for such.
