As I populate my layout, thinking how neat it is to model the 50's 60's I NOW realize that getting cars to put in my scenes is not such an easy thing. The cheap Ebay stuff doesn't thrill me as well as it's all modern.

If I get desperate I might be forced to make them with clay and fire them in the oven... but if I can't draw it, how am I supposed to mold a copy in the correct scale?

Any ideas for sourcing 50's 60's vehicles - cars and trucks?

    Hi Mike.
I'll probably find myself bidding against you but I go for the superb miniatures from Laszlo in Hungary. ready painted and on EBAY under the name csikape

This is a blow up of some of the ones I've got posed on the new Republic Steel module. The station wagon in the foreground was made, if I remember correctly, by Tom Phalen who also made a superb 'Duel' semi trailer. Last I heard he was having health issues but I'd appreciate any info as I'd like some more of his stuff

Although this picture of Cuyahoga, my Nickel plate road' layout wasn't taken specifically it does feature Tom Phalen vehicles in the foreground and in the distance some of Randy Browns fire vehicles. Google 'Randy Brown Z' and you'll soon find him

    hope this helps

I was confused by thread title. I thought "street cars" referred to trolleycars, street railways, etc. And 50s 60s? Original trolleycar era mostly 1880s-1930s, then a few holdovers. About the last new trolley design was PCC car in 1930s. So 50s 60s street cars??? New Orleans cars still around, but as relics. Then in later 20th century, there came to be nostalgic reproductions of old time streetcars for the tourist trade, such as diesel motor buses made with trolley style bodies but not running on rails, or from overhead wire. And modern light rail.
People who follow and collect model autos and trucks would be more likely to read, comment and share information, if a term such as "motor vehicles" or cars-and-trucks used in title. Don't know if you can change it after the fact...

You can get some 50's autos by clicking on the eBay link above to get to your eBay account then search for "z scale 55 chevy". This should bring you to a listing by oldturtle. Go to his shop and you'll find plenty of vehicles to choose from.

Álvaro Cortes in Portugal makes a huge catalog of cars. You can see many on Z Central Station's site (need to be a member). Here his starting page, of many:
    http://www.zcentralstation.com/inde...chives/general-z-scale/alvaro-s-z-cars?page=1

Here is some info on his cars at Jürg Rüedi's Z Scale Gallery site:

Also, João Marrafa de Carvalho of JMC-Models (joao.marrafa.carvalho@gmail.com)

There are others. Just need to find them.
