I just purchased a PRR M1b 4-8-2 BLI from Chuck. I already have a PRR M1a from BLI plus a brass PRR M1a that I converted to DCC years ago. The new BLI steamers are fantastic in performance and sound. The new BLI easily pulls 60 forty foot boxcars on level track. I highly recommend this steamer. It was well worth the long wait. It goes rather nicely with my four Spectrum PRR K-4's. Staying cool and having fun with it.... Shades
Latest 2 car release of the American Freedom Train arrived today. Observation car next, in July, with one more set after that, this year. With final release in 1st quarter of 2017. Now I gotta find out WHY my GS-4 doesn't run right! Runs in reverse, free wheels if pushed forward.

A BLI M1b... followed by a second when the first one showed up. My Pennsy roster finally has some steam freight power! Just before those, I'd picked up several MTL 50' auto boxcars.

After hearing from a friend that he replaced the stock couplers on his Bachmann locomotives with McHenry, I purchase a few sets and replaced the tender coupler on some of the steam and the pilot couplers that were easy to access on some steam. I have only a test loop, so have not tried to see how well they function. They do look nicer because of the smaller size.
I just got some goodies in the mail from Japan today. I just purchased a Con-Cor Burlington Pioneer Zephyr with the twin headlight (1948). I plan to install a customized ESU Lok-Sound version 4 decoder with the sounds that closely resemble that locomotive. A sugar cube speaker will easily feat in the space adjacent to the decoder. I picked up a KATO FEF this past Wednesday. I plan to make molds of the boiler eventually for use as the last orders of Rock Island 4-8-4s. Then after that, I plan to make her a greyhound and numbered not as 844.
I just purchased an N scale train set that has never been used. Several cars, and two locomotives brand new in the box. Too bad only one of them moves. A Like New 0-6-0 Switcher AT&SF, Caboose AT&SF, Union Pacific Reefer, MobilGas Tanker, Union Pacific. Green Potable Water Tanker, Erie Ore Car, (all new in the box). A transformer, a bunch of track, tacks, a lumber mill, a barn with silo, two trees, some cattle, a boat, a church (unassembled), and a bunch of miscellaneous stuff. All in all, I got some stuff I wanted and a few things that I didn't need. Especially the Southern Pacific Locomotive. It's a nice mold, but where's the go? Keith, that layout is awesome!
Welcome Daryl! Uhm…where to begin. You should know that the Southern Pacific "locomotive" is essentially a decorative item only and was a give-away item for subscribers to Readers Digest. It never was intended as a runable piece. Hope you didn't pay a lot for the set. The other items are regarded as "vintage" items. But I don't wish to burst any bubbles. It's definitely a start in the hobby. Maybe others have some comments and suggestions. And again, Welcome!
I got everything, including the track, buildings, trees, and the rest for $10. I'm going to put together a small layout for our neighbor's Son. He's never seen a caboose on a train, so I thought it might be cool. I'm hoping that the 0-6-0 has enough ooomph to drag the cars around the track. I knew the Southern Pacific was a model. I'm going to give it to him first, and then surprise him with the layout when I get around to putting it together. If the little steam engine won't tiow that small rig, I'll just drop a few bucks on a modern locomotive. Thanks for the welcome, and the info too.
Good deal on everything. And what A generous thing to do. Always glad to see opportunities for young ones to get started in the hobby. It was a collection of HO stuff given to me by my uncle that initially stirred my interest in model railroading.
We live in the country, and have one couple with their son across the road as our only neighbors. They are the greatest people. They lost a baby to SIDS shortly after moving here. Nolan, their son is such a nice kid, and after what happened to his sister, I just try to spoil him every chance that I get since he's kind of a loner boy with no neighborhood kids.We are so lucky to have such great kids living there, and he's wildly into Legos and computer games, so as soon as I saw the train stuff for sale I grabbed them for him to have an "old-fashioned" toy tha's cool. I have a really cool old growth board in the barn that's about 37" by 8', so it will make for a nice base. We can see Lake Erie from our homes, so I really like the Ore Car being from the Erie Mining Company. I have some 18k gold paint, so I'm going to paint the ore cargo to look like gold nuggets. I think Nolan will enjoy it, and especially the first time that He is "driving" the train. I only have the Lumber company and the barn, plus there's a Church that isn't assembled, but will be, so maybe he can make some lego buildings for his layout. It will be a fun project that they can put by the tree at Christmas. Anyway, thank You for the advice. There are some packages of tacks with the train stuff, so I assume that You tack down the track so that it's level and as smooth as possible. I used to race HO scale cars when I was a kid, so I think I'll get it figured out. You'll be the first to know if I have a problem, but with everything new I think it should be wire it up and run it around the layout. Thanks Again for the nice Welcome!

Forum member U18B and I swapped locomotives and I too have a "new" Atlas (Kato) GP-35, an E-L unit. It's been nearly 24 Years since I assembled Micro-Trains 1015/1016 couplers for a conversion and after some trial and error, finally assembled a pair. Next, I need to install them.
DT6-6-2000 shell and parts arrived the other day from JamesTrainParts on Shapeways, or in case that won't print here, the large rapid prototyping company. My first try with an RP shell, still need to make up my mind on whether to paint for ATSF or EJE.
