Hey everyone, I picked up two fl9's original without sound, but I added a fl9 with sound late due to the unique nature of the engine. Do you think consisting one engine with sound and one engine without sound would work well or do is it best to exchange for another sound engine, layout is DCC Thanks
It will work fine. You will probably want to run the sound-equipped unit as the lead unit in the consist, so that you can access all the sound functions (bell, horn, etc.) easily from your throttle. John C.
I'd consider only using an ESU silent decoder to try and have the least amount of speed matching. Their GMD-1 (silent) was Digitrax and the sound was ESU decoder equipped and with out considerable fiddling with cv's they don't run we'll together. I now wish I'd bought two sound units and not a silent and sound unit. I ended up with a second silent unt and I'm now pondering switching out the Digitrax silent decoder for a sound one but the good money after bad is a possibility. I would add that the ESU decoder does seem to run better then the Digitrax decoder and the way the lights behave like an incandescent bulb is a nice feature. Cheers. Hugh
Thats Hugh. Your dead on with your assessment. Rapido said i'd have to put a silent esu in there. I"ll go with the two sound engines GNE
