Wiring need not be an art project. It just needs to work. Don't look at mine. I've had some "Kabooms."
Wanting to keep my wiring clean was one of the reasons I created out Track Buss Feeder boards: The picture is a tiny mockup, but you can see how these could be spread throughout the underside of the layout and then you just use the tap terminals to feed to your tracks. The concept is good, but I see every terminal junction as a source of power loss. However I could see them being using on a semi permanent layout that is in reparable sections to join sections, better connection then most connectors I'd bet. I never cut main buss wires, I strip, and wrap and solder wires to them. Although I've started using the "suitcase" type taps now since I have trouble getting under things to solder and all that now.
