As I am almost finished putting in the blue LED strip lighting for "night time" on my layout, I have yet to finalize exactly what I'm going to use for a power supply and where I'll mount it. Most likely at this point is an old Radio Shack 12 volt transformer and build a DC bridge for it and place it under the 2nd level with the lighting. Mainly to save the cost of something new and where my cat can''t get to it as I block the layout from my cat with panels when not using it.. So I thought it worth asking what others are doing for power supplies? My logic is it very well may give me a better way to do it.
Since LED's are current rather than voltage dependent, I've had success using old cell chargers. Of course, I test them first and they are more for spot applications than powering the LED's for an entire layout.
I use these 30 amp power supplies for my lighting http://www.ebay.com/itm/131488243781?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
