I would like to use my dremel for some small drilling (the MTL mounting screw size) through metal. Does anyone know where I could get a chuck that would close small enough to fit that sized drill bit?
And here I though this thread was going to be about buying a new dremel from Feather River Trains. Try here Dan: http://www.widgetsupply.com/page/WS/CTGY/dremel-collet You can also get small drill bits with a 1/8" shank so they can be used in a normal chuck.
Daniel, I bought my Dremel chuck at Walmart in the hardware dept. Home Depot may have them as well. It will hold a #80 bit. Center punch the spot -the bit will wander otherwise, and watch the speed-it isn't hard to heat a bit red hot.
Daniel: Home Depot has a set of chucks to accept smaller bits. I bought a set there. Stay cool and run steam.....
My Dremel came with assorted collets. If nothing else, a well stocked hobby shop, or home center, should have a few available. There's usually a small rack of drill bits, wheels, and more. Boxcab E50
Go the keyless chuck route. Nelson's Widget Supply suggestion has them as well - http://www.widgetsupply.com/page/WS/CTGY/dremel-keyless-chuck I scored three for $10 (plus postage) from Electro Mavin. I have one on my Dremel 395, one on the flex drive and one on the cordless. They are supposedly bulk packaged Dremel keyless chucks but, if not, they still work a treat right down to #80 bits. Quick service, too! http://www.mavin.com/index.php?crn=200&rn=337&action=show_detail
