Update. Shell is in place. I still need to get some grimy black paint but other than that this baby is practically operational.
Hytec, while I wouldn't agree completely that the Niagara 4-8-4 is the ultimate of its configuration, it performed its job as a freight locomotive...

Hallmark made a 5000 class in the early 90s. Spookshow has an article on it. Also, maybe tomorrow I’ll get some more pictures in.
acptulsa - the closest kato chassis would be a GS4 chassis, which is what this shell was made for, actually. I didn’t have the money for one on me...

I think there may be a conversion for the gears with brass ones, or maybe I’m thinking of an HO product...
Kato would do an incredible job, if their Mikado and FEF are anything to go by. even their ventures with con-cor yielded some of the best, if not...
The class J wheels are smaller, and the rods are a huge diversion from the ones seen on the 2900 or 3700 classes.
